Love and Wisdom
Thinking with Aristotle
Dear friend,
Greetings, my valued fellow seekers of wisdom and companions on this enlightening journey. In this edition of our Wisdom Epistles series, we will delve into the captivating realm of Aristotle's philosophy of love and its impact on our lives and relationships.
Love, a fundamental aspect of the human experience, transcends time and place. Aristotle posited that love is not just a fleeting emotion but rather a guiding principle and an intentional effort that shapes our actions. It is the driving force behind our deepest connections, the power that deepens understanding, empathy, and a sense of belonging with others in the world. Plus, it provides us with a sense of worth that is far more accurate and meaningful than what is typically used in the world of markets, but this is for another time. It is an important topic though.
Think about these questions then: How would you define love in your own terms? Can you think of a time when love played a pivotal role in your life, and how it changed you? And if you look at your present situation, do you lack enough love, or do you have it abundantly?
Imagine the possibilities that unfold when we approach life with love as our guiding principle. By embracing love in its various forms, we can create a more compassionate world, foster deep connections, and inspire growth and healing in ourselves and others.
This week, I encourage you to immerse yourself in the world of love and consider its relevance in your life. Reflect on the ways you can change for a deeper exchange of love, and identify one or two crucial steps that can help the love flow unto others around you.
Stay tuned for the next installment of our Wisdom Epistles series. Until then, may your heart be filled with love and wisdom, and may your actions bring light and warmth to the lives of those around you.
With warm regards,
Aristotle's Disciple
